Committees
BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
Buildings and Grounds has a work party, usually the first Saturday of the month, to maintain and improve the appearance and the functionality of the buildings and the landscape on our six and a half acres. Participation in this committee is very flexible. Volunteers do most of the work. Come join our work parties whenever you can. The immediate reward is a delicious lunch prepared by volunteers (who may enjoy cooking more than painting or pulling weeds, but often the cooks pull weeds too). It feels good to share the load and keep our facility a beautiful welcoming place.
For more information, please contact Greg Bround (Grounds), or Ken Schultz (Buildings), .
COFFEE SERVICE/KITCHEN
This is a dedicated group of volunteers committed to keeping the kitchen in good, clean running order while serving Free Trade coffee, tea, other beverages, and snacks. Volunteers are most welcome. It's a good way to get to know the UUFSD community.

CONNECTIONS
The primary goal of the Connections Committee is to help new members feel welcome and connected to the Fellowship by helping them to meet their own spiritual and community needs. We support new members in bringing their own talents, creativity and special skills to embellish and support the Fellowship. We advise/invite new members about activities and events at the Fellowship. The Committee sponsors a number of activities/social gatherings throughout the year to help all members connect with each other, including Circle Dinners, Concerts, picnics, Thanksgiving Dinner, Holiday Party, Christmas Dinner, etc. The committee has also developed a "Mentor-link Program" designed to help new members connect to the UUFSD community. For info regarding the Mentor Program contact Andrea Bernard at .

DESIGN REVIEW
The Design Review Committee is responsible for considering and approving all proposed changes to the site and buildings. Its role is to help committees and members achieve their aims consistent with the goals of the Fellowship as a whole, assuring that the appearance of the site and buildings serves the Fellowship's many interests and activities. When requested by the Board, this Committee is responsible for design, permits, construction, and installation of new projects such as the memorial walls and pathway which are nearing completion. All are welcome to attend meetings, and the Committee especially invites the participation of members with artistic, architectural, engineering, landscape, or general design interests and skills.
The Committee has responsibility for coordinating donations, reservations, location selection, inscription, and installation of individual memorial plaques on the (ultimately) five walls of the UUFSD Memorial Wall. The Committee works in conjunction with artist Jerry Thiebolt and his designated engraver. Further, co-chair Caroline DeMar is available for consultations regarding planned giving to the Fellowship as another avenue by which to memorialize members and loved ones.

SOCIAL JUSTICE/ACTION
Unitarian Universalism aspires to make our world a better place for all living things. We view ourselves as part of an interconnected web of existence, and understand that actions that we take can reverberate well beyond the confines of our immediate community. To meet our responsibilities, we engage in projects that assist those in immediate need, empower those who require new skills and resources to take control of their lives, and preserve the ecological balance of our planet. Ongoing projects include: A sustained and deepening relationship with the Community Resource Center in Encinitas; Esperanza sin Fronteras which includes home building, a food program, education programs and community development in Mexico; sponsoring a week of the Interfaith Homeless Shelter; support for the Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice, San Diego County. We also are increasing awareness of environmental issues in our community, as well as creating environmental health on our campus and motivating community action toward healing our fragile environment.
