Discussion

Impromptu meeting called by Stu due to rained-out work party. Items discussed:

  1. Reasons for participating in UUBG include: sense of shared responsibility, enjoy hands-on work, community spirit.
  2. UUBG will have an evolving, shared leadership and ongoing recruitment of leaders and workers. Stu will continue as web secretary after stepping down as Chair sometime in 2008.
  3. Organization of UUBG website and responsibilities of group leaders are described in UUBG-059 Welcome: to Steering Committee. Group leaders participate in the steering committee to prioritize tasks and projects and plan work parties. Group leaders also recruit project and task planners and leaders and are available to help them and execute the work.
  4. After the first hour, some of us stayed to clarify the organization of UUBG and to brainstorm ways to get more tasks done. Some of the brainstorming:
    • If UUFSD had the money, it would be great to have a part-time, paid handyperson (“Ned”).
    • How to recruit more leaders and workers? Didge Masser-Frye (as of 05JAN07) agreed to look into having a “button” on the UUFSD website that would link to the current UUBG work party page for easy sign-up. Anne and Stu to follow up on this.
    • Anne will draft a short survey that can go into the order of service and the newsletter. The purpose of the survey is to allow the congregation to express themselves about priorities for the site and to offer the opportunity for people to share the responsibility of improving and maintaining the UUFSD campus. Anne will send the draft around for comments.
