He also writes songs about dress hats, pumpkins and pajamas, and other important stuff. His music has been performed by artists like Kathy Mattea, David Wilcox, Claudia Schmidt, Anne Hills, Priscilla Herdman, Darryl Purpose, Billy Jonas, and Ronny Cox, to name a few. His work has been included in song books, church hymnals, and folk radio playlists across the country. He is the recipient of fellowships from both the McKnight and the Bush foundations. Peter has eleven albums to his credit, and has sold over 100,000 of them. He lives in Stillwater, Minnesota with his wife and two daughters.
“Peter’s expressive voice and thoughtful lyrics reach my innermost being, challenge me to face the dark, face the truth, listen....and feel heard all in one sitting."
--Maria Sangiolo, The Vanilla Bean Cafe, Pomfret, CT

"To attend one of Peter's performances is an opportunity to travel through time, imagination, and spirit, and come out with a smile on your face and a good feeling in your heart."

Engaging Grandparents and Seniors for a Livable Climate

The mission of STAY COOL is to speak for those too young to have a voice regarding climate policies: our children and grandchildren. STAY COOL provides education and highlights advocacy opportunities, harnessing the power and influence of elders for action on climate change issues in the San Diego region. STAY COOL offers programs in Climate Reliance, Public Health, Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction, and Public Policy.

Among its programs is Ocean Education. STAY COOL for Grandkids is proud to offer San Diego area schools the STAY COOL Ocean Climate Science program to engage students and educate them about climate change and its impact on our ocean. Originally developed in 2017 in partnership with the Climate Science Alliance – South Coast, this multigenerational program unites volunteer elders/grandparents with young climate scientists from Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO). The goal of the STAY COOL Ocean Climate Science program is to encourage curiosity about our ocean and marine life while giving students the knowledge necessary to make educated decisions about how to protect against climate change in the future.

"Our grandchildren will bear the worst of climate change impacts. How can we stand by and do nothing? We must make everyone aware of the crisis we face and advocate for actions to limit the damage. That is why we founded STAY COOL for Grandkids."
–David & Peg Engel, Founders
