Looking for an incentive to declutter closets and drawers? Target just made it a whole lot easier for you. According to a recent San Diego Union Tribune article, Target has expanded its recycling program. Called Target Textile Drop Spot, the program even accepts unusable clothing, sheets and towels. That’s different from thrift stores and other donation spots that typically require items to be stain-free and in good condition.

Target's website says “Bring in your old clothing, sheets and towels from any brand, even if they’re worn, stained or damaged. Just make sure they’re clean and dry.” You can drop off your items inside the store at textile bins located near the entrance.

Things that Target won’t accept are footwear, bags, purses, rain or snow gear, swimwear, pillows, blankets or comforters.

Target aims to abide by the Responsible Textile Recovery Act of 2024, a state law the requires producers and sellers of some clothing to implement a program to repair, reuse and recycle items.
