April 19 from 10-12:30 - Amphitheatre + Core Area

Our April 19 service is dedicated to Earth Day, first celebrated in 1970 after a massive oil spill prompted 20 million Americans to protest against environmental destruction.

Our own Leslie Gomez will educate us on how to do home electrification.

Most people assume that home electrification is only possible with a major panel upgrade—but a new study from Peninsula Clean Energy proves that that may not be the case. After conducting an electrification pilot in 2024, the PCE team found they could make energy-efficiency upgrades in homes with 100-amp panels without specialized equipment or additional infrastructure costs. It’s a sign that electrification is financially viable for many more households.

Jim Crouch will tell us about his ambitious project to restore oak trees throughout California, and Hal Brody from Vegan Justice San Diego will cover the relationships between plant, animal and human health.

Composer and guitarist Niels Lund will perform his songs, My Love for the Planet, and Time for Action and the UUFSD choir will sing.

After the service we’ll gather on the patio for our Potluck. Please bring a vegan dish to share.
